Will the PTSA Exist Next Year?
The PTSA does not currently have a candidate for President for the 2018-19 school year. Under our bylaws, we cannot exist without one. When asked, many people say that they don't have the time. The job is not that time-consuming, especially compared to elementary school PTAs. PTSA meetings are held once a month. We have two board meetings a year. You do not need to regularly spend time at the school -- most communication with administrators is done via e-mail, text, or phone. When all board positions are filled, the work is spread out and manageable for everyone. Not interested in being President? How about Membership Chair? Hospitality Chair? Secretary? There are many ways to help and we need you! The PTSA does too much for the school to let it go defunct. If you have questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact Cathy at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will have the support of current volunteers to help you transition to your new job, as well as the support and training offered by the Fairfax County Council of PTAs.
