What is rocketry club about?

Oakton Rocketry works on multiple projects throughout the year, ranging from smaller TARC competition rockets to more advanced rockets which involve complex electronic payloads. We have projects to work on all throughout the year which appeal to all types of STEM enthusiasts, from computer programmers to aspiring aerospace engineers! No experience is necessary, so stop by one of our meetings at any point during the school year!

What rockets do you make?

TARC (Team America Rocketry Challenge) is a national competition for both middle and high schoolers. Teams design and build their own rockets which meet the specifications for that year, attempting to reach a specific target altitude and flight duration. This year's contest challenges students to design, build, and fly a rocket carrying two raw eggs to an altitude of 800 feet and return it to the ground within 41 to 43 seconds. Our advanced rockets are larger and involve complex payloads.
