Picture Head of School Security Mr. Baranyk has served as the Security Specialist at Oakton High School since the 2003-2004 school year. He retired from the Fairfax County, Virginia Police Department as Deputy Chief of Police having last served as Commander of Emergency and Disaster Management, Tactical Operations, Organized Crime and Narcotics, Medivac Helicopter Support and Major Crimes Investigations. Mr. Baranyk served as an adjunct instructor at George Mason University, where he earned his graduate degree in Conflict Resolution and Sociology. Prior to coming to Oakton, Mr. Baranyk taught at Osborne High School in the City of Manassas, Virginia. Contact: @email


Ms. Sefchick started her career with the Fairfax County Park Authority in 1986 while she attended classes at George Mason University.  After graduating from GMU with a degree in English Literature she began her career with the Fairfax County Police Department. She retired as a Captain after a twenty six year career having last served as the Commander of the Incident Support Services to the Major Crime Bureau.  She currently resides in Fairfax County.

Mr. Giambattista started his career with the United Stated Secret Service Uniformed Division in 1985 and retired in May 2016.  Most of his career was on the Emergency Response Team.  He attended Eastern Kentucky University and graduated in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in Police Administration.  He currently resides in Fairfax County.

Mr. Edmundson has lived in Fairfax County most of his life. He graduated from Falls Church. He worked for the Fairfax County Police Department for 27 years, rising to Division Commander or First Lieutenant. Among his many assignments in the police department were Internal Affairs Investigator, Detective Supervisor, Patrol Supervisor and Crime Prevention Coordinator. In his capacity as a police officer, he has received a myriad of training to include emergency planning, crisis and police management, and crime prevention.  Contact: @email
