Upcoming SOL and AP Tests
Testing season is upon us. SOL testing begins May 7th and will close out May 24th, save for make-ups and retakes. AP Testing also begins on May 7th and will close out May 18th. Students should see their teachers concerning testing times and locations. Specific test assignments are available on the OHS website.
Winter Guard Scores Big in Virginia Championships
Applause is due to both of our Winter Guard teams for stellar performances in last week’s Virginia State Championships at the end of a season of intense work.
Oakton's Literary Magazine Wins 2018 Silver Crown Award from Columbia (University) Scholastic Press Association
Oakton's annual literary magazine (Vol. 50, Opus 2017) earned a National Silver Crown Award from Columbia (University) Scholastic Press Association at its recent 2018 Crown Awards Ceremony in New York. Congratulations to the Creative Writing (1, 2, 3, and Adv. Comp.)
Clinic and Security (including lost and found) have moved
As part of the renovations taking place at OHS, the Health Room (Clinic) has moved as of Tuesday April 17th 2018.to a new location. It is now located in Room 27A, which is in the old math hall.
Accepting Center Tutor Applications until June 7, 2018
The Peer Tutoring 1 class is an elective where Center tutors organize Center events, build leadership skills and give back to the Oakton community through tutoring.
Junior Parent Night
Attention Junior Parents, this year school counselors will be hosting Junior Parent Night on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 6:30pm. The focus will be on preparation for senior year and the college application process.
Summer School Information
Summer school information is now available. There are several different options through FCPS for summer school: Credit Recovery (this is for students who fail a required class), Online Campus (online classes with some mandatory in-person meetings), Self-Directed Economics/Personal Finance, and the Madison High School Program (with limited courses). Sports Pre-Participation Physicals for next year
In preparation for next school year, to participate in sports next school year, your child must have a physical on file dated on or after May 1, 2018, on the new form (Revised February 2017). This includes working out in the weight room, conditioning, “green days” and try outs. The Oakton High School Athletic Training Program is offering an opportunity for students to receive a sports health screening and pre-participation physical (PPE) on Monday May 14, 2018 from 5:30-8 pm.
All Night Graduation Party - Price Increases 4/1
Senior families - we need your help spreading the word about our All Night Grad Party!! Due to construction at Oakton, we will have our first off-site All Night Grad at Launch Trampoline Park in Franklin Farm on Friday, June 8th from 10 pm to 4 am. In addition to trampolines, dodgeball, arcade, casino and obstacle course we are also featuring new awesome additions like a blacklight all night dance party, donut wall and GIF booth!
